Oncology Cycle 2

My Oncologist is pleased with the progress of chemotherapy to date, as am I. We had a serious discussion about my traveling to Vancouver for my son’s wedding – the only way I could have assisted my body in restoring its resistance, would have meant canceling a complete monthly cycle of scheduled treatments with no guarantee that I would not have ended up in the emergency ward of a Vancouver hospital. She also reminded me that Cancer is a very serious illness and ANY interruption to treatment increases risks substantially. From a strictly medical standpoint, she said, my decision not to travel was a wise one. As it stands, the 6 months of chemotherapy is expected to reduce the sarcoma by 60 to 80% which is why 5 weeks of radiation 5 days a week follows the chemo.  Having a cancer cell find its way to other parts of my body is a constant threat – I will be having another round of CT scans in two weeks to check. We agreed to continue with cycle 3 of 3 weeks of chemo and one week of rest.
