About Me

In the context of date formats. most of America uses Month, Day, Year. In the health system in Ontario (and much of Canada generally) the format is Day, Month. Year.  At my cancer center, patients are confirmed at an appointment by reciting their name and birthday. I have yet not to get a chuckle or a smile when I recite my birthday as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 – 12th March 1945. “How did you do that” they invariably ask “I didn’t kick to get out early” I reply. Another giggle. This blog is for family, friends, colleagues and those who know me.For those who don’t read on.

Born in Australia, emigrated to Canada as part of what Australians call “The Big Trip” which is designed to see the world and return to Australia because it is the best place in the world. Some of us get lost along the way. Acquiring a wife, mortgage and children slowed me down. But now that I am free of encumbrances, I am creating the definitive outcome that my Big Trip can continue – although the decision on the best place in the world to live is more of an open question.
